Faris D. Whitesell (1895-1984) received degrees from William Jewell College, Biola University, Northern Baptist Theological Seminary after which further graduate study was pursued at University College Divinity School, Southwestern Theological Seminary and McCormick Theological Seminary. For twenty-two years he pastored churches. While at Northern Baptist Seminary for some forty years, he was Professor of Evangelism, Practical Theology and Preaching. He wrote a number of books pertaining to evangelism and preaching.
